Broadcast Shopify theme typography settings showing heading and body font options

The Broadcast Shopify theme does not use one fixed font. It runs on a Heading and Body font system. Each preset comes with its own default font pairing. You can keep the defaults or swap them out anytime from the theme settings.

Broadcast Theme's Default Fonts by Preset

Most people searching this get a generic answer like "pick any font you want." That's not helpful. Here's what each preset actually ships with by default.

Clean Preset

The Clean preset uses a bold serif heading font. It gives the store a timeless, high-end look right away. The headings sometimes go oversized, which adds to the luxury feel. This preset works best for jewelry and minimalist product stores.

Modern Preset

The Modern preset uses a heavy sans-serif heading font. The look is sharp, clean, and bold. It pairs well with full-bleed images. Fashion and lifestyle brands get the most out of this preset.

Bright Preset

The Bright preset is the most specific one. It uses Cooper BT for headings and Open Sans for body text. Cooper BT brings a playful, rounded energy. Open Sans keeps everything easy to read. This combo is a perfect fit for kids' products and colorful brands.

How to Check Which Font Your Broadcast Theme Is Using

Already running Broadcast on your store? Here are two quick ways to find out exactly which fonts are active.

Check via Theme Editor

This is the easiest way. No code needed. Just follow these steps:

Go to your Shopify Admin. Click Online Store, then Themes. Hit the Customize button next to Broadcast. Open Theme Settings from the left sidebar. Click Typography. You will see

your active Heading and Body fonts listed right there.

That's it. The font names show up clearly in both sections.

Check via Browser Inspect

This method is super handy if you are trying to match a font from a Broadcast demo store or any other live Shopify store.

Open the page in your browser. Right-click on any text you want to identify. Select Inspect from the menu. In the panel that opens, click the Styles tab. Look for the font-family property. The font name shows up right there.

This trick works on any live store. Most people skip this method entirely, but it saves a ton of time when you are trying to copy a specific look from a demo.

How to Change Fonts in Broadcast Theme

Broadcast gives you two ways to change fonts. One requires zero code. The other requires editing the theme files.

Using Shopify Font Library

This is the easiest route. No coding involved at all. Open your Shopify Admin and go to Online Store. Click Themes and hit Customize next to Broadcast. Open Theme Settings and click Typography. You will see separate options for your Heading font and Body font. Pick any font from the library and hit Save. Your changes go live instantly.

The Shopify font library includes hundreds of Google fonts and system fonts. You can set a completely different font for headings and body text. Changes apply across your entire store automatically.

Adding a Custom Font

Want a font that is not in the Shopify library? You can add it, but it requires editing the theme code directly. You need to upload the font file, write a CSS font-face rule, and apply it to the correct elements in the theme stylesheet. One wrong edit can break your store's typography across all pages.

Broadcast's own documentation strongly recommends hiring a Shopify Expert for this. Their support team does not assist with custom font code changes. So if you are not comfortable with CSS and theme files, bring in a developer. It saves a lot of headaches.
